What a lovely day!

What a difference a blue sky makes - it has been lovely here today. Almost springlike. We have had the door to the garden open all day, and Inca has spent her day mooching around the garden. I'm sure she had forgotten she had a garden to play in. She found an old ball and has amused herself with it for ages ... chasing it, pouncing on it and running around in circles. There have been lots of sniffs to sniff and old scruffy corners to explore.

The ground is still soaking, but there are tiny signs of hope to be found when I looked closely.

I have been inspired by the amount of baking going on in blogland .... and I have finally made a cake!
When our children were little I did lots of baking, but today it seemed to take an awfully long time.
I wasn't helped by the fact that everything I wanted to make needed an ingredient I didn't have, or just not quite enough of something. Eventually I settled on a fruit cake. I think I used every bowl and utensil in the kitchen! I'm seriously out of practice!

I'm sure it wasn't meant to look like this ......
It collapsed when I took it out of the tin ... I was too impatient to wait until it cooled down properly.
Mr. B. laughed! Well, it was a disaster .... tasted good though!

  1. AS long as it tastes good with a cuppa it doesn't matter what it looks like:) Like Inca our two cats have suddenly discovered there is an outside world again:)

  2. Lovely signs of spring in the garden. I bet that cake would be lovely with some custard poured on top!
