My mid week treat last week was not with Mr. B. but with my daughter instead. She had been working at the conference in Liverpool, and so we were able to have a night out before she had to go back to Newcastle.
We knew exactly what we wanted to do ....
it had to be the latest Jane Eyre film.
We thought it was a wonderful adaptation .... beautifully filmed and well cast. I've lost count of the number of Miss Eyre's I've seen over the years but this young girl was the perfect Jane.
And Rochester? Well, yes, he was pretty good too!
If, like me, you love to lose yourself in a lovely romantic costume drama, try to catch it soon!
(all images from we heart it)
I would love to see this film, unfortunately the men folk in my life would not appreciate such romance so I would have to go alone! x
ReplyDeleteI think it looks good too, we hope to catch it in the next week or two at our local tiny cinema.

Oh that looks good! I wonder if I could somehow manage to see it here in Canada....
ReplyDeleteHow lovely that you and your daughter can share such a time together! Such a true classic! It seems that the young ones of this generation do not have an appreciation for these classics. I think I'd have to tie my daughter down and force her to read a classic. I was/am such a reader...she has no regard for the pastime. Perhaps as she ages, she'll realize its value and charm. She's in her last year of college presently and reading is solely for completing research and fulfilling assignments. For pleasure? She doesn't know what that is...unless, of course, it's something on Facebook! LOL Hugs, Annette
ReplyDeleteI've seen this film and absolutely loved it.

I haven't seen this version, but will have to add it to my list.
ReplyDeleteI have been ordered out of the house one night next week as the young man is cooking his girlfriend a meal. Hubby will be at work, so Jane Eyre at the cinema is where I shall be. xxxxx
ReplyDeleteI didn't know there was a new Jane Eyre film out. I don't often go to the cinema but I'll have to try and get to see this.
ReplyDeleteIt's a story I never tire of! We did the book for 'o' level and I later did it at night school for 'a' level then as part of 'Victorian Novels' for an OU degree - I've seen a few TV versions and loved the last one which was filmed at Haddon Hall so I guess I would like this one too. Glad you were able to have a lovely night out with your daughter:)
ReplyDeleteI very rarely get to the cinema, but would love to see this.

I thought she was great but don't thick he ever really found his 'Mr Rochester'.......really looking forward to the up coming Wuthering Heights too.....especially as I kitted their arm warmers!!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if this film is out in the States. I'll have to google it and see. It's always a good day when we get to spend them with our daughters, isn't it.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely loved it! Before I went I put my little ones to bed. My oldest asked where I was going. I told her a little of the story - a lady goes to live in a big house to teach a little girl. A man called Mr Rochester lives there too. 'Mr Register?' she said. He!
