On a very hot and sultry Sunday afternoon we headed towards the seaside .... at Llandudno in North Wales. When I was a small child, this is where we holidayed every year. My grandparents moved their family there during the last war, away from the air raids in Liverpool. My Dad grew up there, and took us back at every opportunity.
I wanted to take a stroll down memory lane, so we headed to the pier ... in all its faded splendour.
I loved it ... it brought back so many happy memories .... and joy of joys .... there was a Punch and Judy show taking place as we stepped off the pier!
They're still doing the same voices!
Brings back memories here too. We lived in Bangor for a year whilst Dan was tiny and went to Llandudno quite a bit. Looks like you had a nice day x
ReplyDeleteThe blue and white buildings on the pier look lovely.
ReplyDeleteAs a child Punch and Judy frightened me, and I still don't like them!
OMGosh, you just took me back in time 50 years and 12 and a half thousand miles! We too would go to Llandudno as a family back in the '50s. We religiously holidayed at Barmouth, at a campsite right on the dunes at Dyffryn Ardudwy from being about seven or eight years old, but anywhere in Wales was always a certain destination for us...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the little nostalgic trip..

Looks as though it's still a proper old-fashioned seaside place - love all that rock:) It's lucky to still have a pier, so many seem to have burned down in recent years. When I was young we used to go to Colwyn Bay and Rhos-on-Sea just down the coast. Living in Macclesfield it was doable as a day trip on Sundays in summer. Brings back nice memories.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of Llandudno... a very favourite Saturday destination for us. Lovely promenade, lovely eatery at Oriel, lovely charity shops, and a lovely promenade back to the car when homeward bound. Wish we'd been there on Saturday - certainly a perfect seaside day!
ReplyDeleteWe regularly go to Llandudno as it is only a short distance away, about 35 minutes drive.it hasn't changed at all due to strict planning restrictions. We love it and often go to West Shore as well.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab day out. Love the photo of the bunting against the sky. Seeing pictures of plastic buckets always makes me happy!

ReplyDeleteWe often visit Llandudno...such a lovely place to visit.
ReplyDeleteI love visiting the shore. The old time candy is so nostalgic for me. We always visited the candy store on our vacations to the beach. Lovely photos Kathy!
ReplyDeleteI really like Llandudno and when we visit we always have to walk along the pier. I remember childhood visits too - I seem to remember an Alice in Wonderland garden that was lit up at night times which seemed magical when I was little:)
ReplyDeleteI've been there! I'm scared of punch and judy shows, the voices still creep me out!
