Above and below Froggat

On our way back to the caravan with our purchases from the Chatsworth Farm shop we took an impromptu walk along to Froggart Edge, where the Millstone Grit rock outcrops give way to incredible views below.
I love the shapes that the rocks make against the blue sky.

After a little descent to 'look at some rock' Mr B. decided that a shortcut back to the main path was necessary ....
... straight up! Now, I get really cross when I see women out on walks wearing silly shoes and carrying handbags, and here was I in unsuitable cream suede trainers and carrying a handbag! One thing I should have learned by now, is that Mr. B. never takes the easy way ... and life is more adventurous for it I suppose!
Later in the day, wearing my walking boots this time, we took a stroll along the River Derwent from Calver Mill.

Such a pretty little path along the banks of the river, and so peaceful. we barely saw another soul along the way.

I loved this house near the weir, with its reflections in the water.

We finished up at the bridge in Froggat, just below the rock formations in the earlier photographs.
Wouldn't it be nice to live near here! So many good walks on the doorstep!

  6. Such beautiful scenery. I laughed at your comment about women in unsuitable shoes - I hate that too but have been caught out by sudden route changes!

  10. I chuckled at your shoe comments! I only ever walk in wellies or flip flops if I can help it, sometimes I like to go barefoot too. It comes from years of rock scrambling in the peak district as a child - carefree, young and happy to get sheep poo between your toes, there's no reason to think about 'sensible shoes' and my attitude hasn't changed much since then! Last time I was on frogatt edge my favourite flip flops broke and I had no choice but to do the walk barefoot, but I quite enjoyed it!

I've really enjoyed your derbyshire posts! I love seeing 'my' places on people's blogs!

  11. I DO live near here of course:) I was up on Froggatt Edge on Wednesday morning and I know the walk by the river from Calver Mill too. You're right about it being nice living in this area with the whole of the Peak District on my doorstep. These are really lovely photos that you've taken.
