Last Day ...

My lovely boy has spent his last official day at school .... he only needs to go in to take his A level exams now.... On his behalf , I could say never has a day come soon enough .... school has not been enjoyed at all.... it has merely been tolerated.
He has been fortunate enough to attend our local all boys grammar school which has excellent teachers .... and an excellent reputation, but the excitement he felt as a little boy of eleven was never really sustained for very long. Unless you are on the first eleven for rugby or hockey, or represent the school in cross-country running then you really don't count for much. Sport rules! Too much testosterone I think!
I think they need some female influences to bring more balance to the environment!!!

Anyway, my boy is now on what is officially known as "study leave" ...
I don't see much studying going on!

  1. Our 10 yr old loved his Infant school, intensely dislikes his Junior school, I wonder what Senior school will bring!
Hope the A levels go well.

  2. Bless him. What a great feeling for him though. Hope all goes well with the Exams. My daughter is in the same position. I think we have got Uni sorted - coming over to your side of the Pennines if all goes to plan - just got it all to pay for now!!! xx

  3. School just doesn't suit everyone - I'm glad for his sake it's over and hope he does manage to study and get good results for the next step he wants to take. My eldest is doing some GSCE modules this year and I'm hoping he'll actually try revision for a change! xx

  4. My son hated school, and was always very unhappy. I got him through on day at a time!! When he reached 15 he did a complete turnround!! He loved it!!! Strange!! He still left at 16 to take up an apprenticeship!!
