Introducing Moss ... Inca's new friend!

My good friend and neighbour,Frances, lost her lovely Border Collie, Riley, just before Christmas and has been bereft ever since. We used to walk our dogs together, but Riley was old and stiff and Inca was young and skittish, so I always felt she was too much for him to cope with. It was hard enough for him to walk along on his old bones without a stupid Labrador trying to coax him to play.
For the last few months Frances has been waiting for the right dog for her to rescue, just like she did with Riley 12 years ago. It had to be a Border Collie and it had to get on with cats, as they have Hermione to consider!
Well, at last the wait is over, and she has now acquired a smashing two year old Border Collie called Moss, from a local rescue centre. We introduced Inca and Moss tonight and they had a wonderful time romping and chasing around the field behind our house. Inca was exhausted when she came in and had to drink lots of water!!!
I don't think Moss is ready to go for real walkies with us yet, because he can't be trusted off the lead. Apparently, he has a history of chasing moving objects ... cars, bikes, and runners - so Frances has a great deal of work to do with him yet, but he has the makings of a lovely dog.

We're looking forward to a great summer together with lots of bracing walks around the Paradise Peninsular! I must try to get some photos of them together next time!

  1. I'm glad to hear they get on so well - you don't get that with cats - you get hissing and spitting! Sounds like Moss will be hard work but very rewarding, hope to see photos of them together soon if they stand still long enough! xx

  2. It sounds as though your neighbour will have her work cut out training the new dog.Is that why the previous owner got rid of him?

  4. We had a border collie when I was small so I have a soft spot for them. I hope Moss settles in now he has a good home and forgets all about chasing motor bikes:)
