I had absolutely no reason to buy a pumpkin.
Our children are grown up and far from home so Hallowe'en doesn't happen here any more,
To be honest, I miss all the fun.
I saw a lovely flower display recently in our local garden centre,
and couldn't resist having a go myself.
It was so easy to do.
Just hollow out a small pumpkin, insert a container for water, and fill with chrysanthemums.
Attach the lid back on using a wooden skewer.
And there you have it ... simple!
So we now have a pumpkin sitting on the baker's shelf in our conservatory,
along with a collection of autumnal leaves, candles, pine cones and pot pourri to mark the season.
Happy Hallowe'en!
It's lovely. I sincerely hope that you used the 'hollowed out' pumpkin flesh for something yummy like risotto or muffins. It's a good veg in its own right you know!
ReplyDeleteHappy Hallowe'en to you to! what a great idea, too late for this year but must remember next year to have a go myself.

Like you I had no reason to buy a pumpkin but it somehow slipped into my trolley. It has been carved and a tea light placed inside ready for tonight and we'll make pumpkin chutney later. Your flower display is lovely - Happy Halloween to you too:)
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way - my kids are grown and now my grandkids are in costumes but they don't live close so that I can enjoy them. I just get pictures.
ReplyDeletePS lovely design on your pumpkin!
ReplyDeletethat looks smashing! what did you cook with the pumpkin flesh?
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. Although when my children wee small we didn't celebrate halloween (there was no hype then) I always feel a little wistful when I see pumpkins in the supermarkets at this time of year. Still no lantern but I have made pumpkin pie from the gougings of my granddaughter's lantern this year!
ReplyDeleteLovely idea for your pumpkin, it looks very seasonal and will no doubt last for several weeks too.

What a great idea and it looks lovely (sounds so simple even I could possibly do it!) xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely seasonal display and the pumpkin 'vase' is perfect for the job. Just a suggestion to put a plate under your pumpkin if the shelf is made of wood. I say this from experience after having some moisture issues with one ~ Happy All Hallows Eve!
ReplyDeleteThe simple ideas are the best and that looks so pretty.
