I got home from holiday at 3 a.m. this morning and have been manically trying to get the washing done before the rains come tomorrow. I think I'm on my fifth load now! Thankfully, after the trauma a few weeks ago, we had a lovely time in the end.
I need to get my August photos out on show quickly, because it's already September!!! How did that happen? My long weeks of summer holiday are almost at an end and I'm back at school on Monday!
All my photographs this month were taken in France.... I admit I had some of these things in mind when I set the list for August!
A boat
It has to be the ferry from Dover to Calais
A mountain
We spotted this lovely lavender field as we drove over the mountains to the next valley.
Market
The olive stall
Fabric
This is actually fabric, although it looks like newsprint.
A Festival or Fairground
The little village we stayed in held a torch lit procession to celebrate the Fete du St Laurent
Fairground
(Showing off here, because I managed to get both of these titles)
Something Ancient
A 12th Century Water Mill viewed through a glass panel inside the shop selling olives and lavender.
Street Food
Roast chicken on market day.
Something bizarre
This guy turned up in a bar one day whistling through a wooden pipe and shaking a stick full of bracelets ... mad as a hatter!!!
Picnic
Each Wednesday we took our picnic food bought at the market to a wonderful place at the foot of Mont Ventoux. The spring here was used in Roman times, when an aquaduct carried water to the nearby town.
A Sport
Boules, a French obsession, played by our fellow picnickers before their meal.
Bread ...
... and a half eaten pain au chocolate, still warm from the Boulangerie
A fountain
Well, I was spoilt for choice ... every corner had a fountain, but I've chosen the one our dog jumped into to get a drink! We just took our eyes off her for a moment ... and she was in!
I'm sure it's not really allowed!!!
I had a nice surprise when I came home this morning, the house was full of lovely parcels. I celebrated my birthday two weeks ago on holiday, and I'd forgotten all about the Birthday Swap. I'm going to say a quick thank you now to all the lovely swappers ... but I will catch up with you properly as soon as I can!

That's a lovely photo of the lavender field. Mountains was a bit tricky for those of us who stayed in England in august, hehe!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that fabric. Love it. Your photos are tres chic. Bien. Au revoir, Ax
ReplyDeleteNow I just want to be in France!!!! It all looks really lovely Kathy. Happy Belated Birthday. xxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteThat fabric is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back Kathy! Belated Birthday wishes! The photos in France are great. The bread is wrapped so wonderfully. We don't really do wrapping here do we? I am glad that you maanged to have a lovely break despite the earlier traumas!!! x
ReplyDeleteGlad you finally got there and had a lovely time ..
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you finally got to have your holiday. Your photos for August are lovely. I didn't get to participate for August as there were too many things on the list I just couldn't get. No festivals, street food, markets or mountains within cooee of where I live. September's list is going to be challenging too. Back to school could be tricky for us living in the southern hemisphere as we go back to school in February. Might have to put my thinking cap on for that one.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend,
Anne xx
your photos are great and glad you had a good holiday , best of luck with school
ReplyDeleteWonderful collection of things I might never see without your wonderful captures! The bread is making my mouth water! LOL Welcome back and warm belated birthday wishes. Annette

ReplyDeleteI am sooo envious of your visit to the South of france. Were you in the Luberon area.We had a great family holiday there. We should be in France now but had to cancel because C needed an operation(Privately-at great expense!).We have rebooked to go for 5 days in northern France in October.not the same but we have had two weeks in France and one on Croatia this year so I shouldn't complain.
ReplyDeleteGlad you managed to get away on hols after the stresses a few weeks ago! I would love a wander through that lavender field, how lovely. A lot of mine are from France this month too, I was on the lookout for a game of boules but no such luck!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you had such a good holiday after that dreadful start. Great pictures from France - I've always wanted to experience a lavender field.
ReplyDeleteAaaah, unfair advantage - to be able to take these photos in France ! ;-) Lovely.
ReplyDeleteLovely! I can smell the lavender field right now and taste the fresh bread:)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you had a great time! Happy belated birthday! Neat fabric. Lovely photo of the lavender field.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics! I would so love to see a lavender field in person, they're so pretty in pictures. This is the 2nd month in a row that I missed out on the photo hunt, it's just been too hot. Hopefully, September will be a little cooler and I get join in again!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a wonderful holiday in the end. I thought the hunt would be so eay to do in July and August what with being out and about but I failed miserably. Maybe I'll get back into the swing in Sept!
